After decades of less than perfect family photography, I decided to study photography at Grossmont Community College. This proved to be great fun as well as rewarding, and I soon discovered the need for a better camera etc. This never-ending cycle prompted me to look for ways to finance my hobby.

I taught photography as an elective for several years at the Junior high school where I taught science and math.

I’ve been taking wedding photos since 1985. A photographer friend of mine referred a client to me that he was unable to help the couple due to a previous commitment. He had seen my work and felt that I could handle the assignment. Over the years I recruited my wife as an assistant, upgraded my equipment, branched out into Video, went back to school, and generally had a great time.

Through referrals and repeat business I gradually developed a Wedding/Portrait clientele and branched out into Commercial Portraiture and Small Product Photography. For the next 18 years I developed a successful Part time business as a second income to my teaching career

In 2001 I began investigating the digital format and by 2004 gave up film completely. I can still do photography with film - but the medium is so much more expensive and digital has improved so quickly, few would want or need film.

In 2003 I retired from teaching, moved to Atascadero and have devoted much of my attention to building a fully equipped digital photography studio.

As part of my commitment to preserve my family’s memories, I’ve purchased professional quality slide/print copy devices and other equipment necessary to copy and restore the family’s collection of 35mm slides, photographs, newspaper articles, Videos and other mementos. These have been placed on DVD’s and Books and distributed to interested members of my family.
